There they returned again into the past, more exquisitely happy, perhaps, in their re-union, than when it had been first projected; more tender, more tried, more fixed in a knowledge of each other’s character, truth, and attachment; more equal to act, more justified in acting.

The Austen Experience Redemption Run is a follow-up to the larps played in 2025, but it is open for general signup.
It tells the story of the theme park inviting people back who had their experience cut short the year before, due to different reasons. Now they return to a new and improved experience where there have been some management changes at the park itself. Early sign-up and group assignment was offered to the 2025 participants but there are still spots left to fill.
Sign-up is open to people who were not a part of these runs, regardless of your history with the larp. So please do not hesitate to sign up.
If you are interested in The Austen Experience but have not played any previous runs of the larp, we recommend that you first read through the rest of this website to check that you are alright with the themes of this larp.
Further down on this page you can find the sign up form.
The Quick Facts
Date: 5–8 November 2026 (sadly we were not able to get any non-winter days, so it’ll be a winter-themed larp).
Place: Rockelstad castle outside Flen. We will organise a bus to and from Stockholm that will cost approximately €50 per person. If you have a free spot at the larp, your bus ride is also free.
Payment: The €50 non-refundable deposit is due a week after receiving a spot, and the rest of the payment by the 28th of February 2026 (but you can ask for an extension if needed). If you drop out at any point leading up to the 1st of August 2026 we will refund you everything but the deposit and the Stripe processing fee (which will be paid in full on the deposit, rather than split over both tickets) If you drop out before the 15th of September we will refund you €100.
Language: The larp will be played in English.
Sleeping: Sleeping will be done in-game in one of three houses. The Heroes will sleep in dormitories or bedrooms with a maximum of five beds. Heroines will sleep in bedrooms with up to four people in one room. All other groups will sleep in rooms for 2–5 people. Most of the beds are double beds, and we will prioritise giving single beds to people who have special need of them. There are three one-person rooms and we will also try to prioritise these for people with special need of them.
Accessibility: The larp takes place on two floors of several historic houses. The houses have steps leading up to them, and the upper floors are not wheelchair accessible. The bathrooms also have steps leading into them. You will be walking between the houses during the day and dancing in the afternoons.

Sign-up
The first round of sign-ups has closed but it is still possible to sign up for the reserve list. After sign-up you will receive a flagging list. Before signing up, please read through the following:
Note that the Austen Experience is a larp of two contrasting realities. In one of them, the rules of an Austenesque reality is dominant, broken only by the Heroines when they venture outside the social norms and seduce, joke or push the Heroes around (both figuratively and literally).
The other is the dehumanizing and oppressive nature behind the scenes of the Park. There, the larp takes on a very different set of themes, ones that will sometimes shine through or can be sought out by the players of the Heroines.
Here is a list of potentially sensitive themes that might occur in the interactions between Heroines and the Heroes, or between Company and the different models of Heroes that they condition and train. Note that these are not primary themes of the larp, but things that might arise due to the severe imbalances of power and the inherent cruelty of the system. The focus of the larp will be on soft oppression, but the following could occur:
- A system of slavery, sexual violence, rape, taking advantage of people, torture, technological systems, reciting speeches, humiliation.
The Austen Experience follows an opt-out principle. You can always opt-out of experiencing these themes, but not always opt out of being made aware of them or noticing them. However, no matter what is portrayed, you will always have full control of your own body and of the story you are telling. You always choose who to touch and control who touches you. You can always leave any situation and step outside of that scene to take a break from the fiction as needed.
Apart from being aware of these things, we also require of you as a participant of the Austen Experience to follow some simple guidelines.
- Be prepared for the larp by reading the character you are assigned and the material we have sent you.
- Get to the location on time and be prepared for the workshop.
- Do not bring any hard liquor or non-prescribed drugs with you to the larp. Wine, beer and cider is allowed, but you are not allowed to get drunk.
- Respect the organizers and follow the rules for the larp, including the meta techniques.
- Fill out the required forms before the larp.
- Follow Swedish law.
- Treat your co-players with respect.
- Take charge of your own emotional safety, making sure to opt out or go off-game when you need it.
Changes
We have also made significant changes to the design to make the larp easier for us to run. They are detailed below. Some of this might not make sense to a person who hasn’t played the larp but we’re including it anyway for transparency.
Kitchen staff, Company helpers, and Park staff
All staff members will be recruited by the organising team or the kitchen boss, and these spots will therefore not be a part of the regular signup. You can let us know that you are available via email (austen@atropos.se) but there are no guarantees that we will provide you with a spot.
This is done in order for us to build a strong offgame team where we can delegate more tasks before the larp. We are also removing the company staff as helpers, as the company staff has increased in size.
Pre+Post Game Helpers
We will be recruiting three people whose only responsibilities are on Wednesday, Thursday morning, and Sunday. These three people will cook crew food, help with unloading vans, and clean the kitchens after the larp is over. In exchange they will receive a reduced player fee (€200) and a guaranteed spot at the larp. You can also apply for this via email, but there is no guarantee that you’ll receive it. We have tried to summarise the tasks below:
Tasks before the larp:
- Unloading vans
- Cooking crew dinner and setting up crew breakfast.
- Assisting in making workshop lunch and fika during Thursday morning.
- Setting up the Company house kitchen.
Tasks after the larp:
- Making and putting out breakfast on Sunday morning
- Cleaning the Company and Hero House kitchens, throwing away garbage
- Packing and loading the van
For these spots we will need you to arrive on Wednesday afternoon and leave either on Sunday evening or Monday morning. It will be possible for us to pick you up and drop you off in Flen, but preferably you will coordinate your plans so that we do not need to drive multiple times.
You can apply for this by sending us an email to austen@atropos.se
Redesign of Golds
The Gold Heroines will now have their own set romantic storylines, as well as clearer rules for what they are allowed to do and not in the Park. They will have less of a direct say in what happens and not be able to receive new storylines or experiences on demand, but still be treated with respect and reverence. They will still be incredibly privileged, but more regular customers than in the original writing. Their storylines will also most likely be more dramatic than typical Austen ones.
More Controlled Storylines
Each Heroine will have a pre-scripted storyline, most likely with a difficult choice at some point of their loop. During the first loop (Thursday evening to Friday night) all Heroines are expected to follow their story arc and not try to steal it from someone else. Then they will be given a lengthier evaluation form to fill out where they can express interest in other story arcs or in replaying the one they just did.
For Heroes this means that there will be a number of set plot points during the day, where you will need to do something specific. How you get to that point and the manner in which you do this is up to you.
For Company this also means that there will be more control of storylines, and that Heroes need to be briefed on and potentially practice these plot points. We’ll try to have more of a Company presence in the Park, where the Company members will also play their Park characters, enabled by us increasing the amount of company employees.
Smaller Changes
- The setting will be The Austen Experience reopening after being shut down due to a plague (and maybe some other shady things).
- Heroes will now receive a group description based on humanity type.
- Some Hero characters may get a different humanity type than at previous runs.
- More information on the reset and what Heroines should know will be available before the larp.
- We will have a new flagging period before the larp.
- The workshops will be somewhat redesigned.
- The company offices will move to the Hero house. However, the Company house will remain where the Company employees sleep and socialise.
- Mal (one of the organiser NPC:s) will become the highest-ranking company member. She is there to help create structure and offer support to the people playing Company or Staff.
- More focus on soft oppression and the setting’s natural oppression, rather than big physical oppression scenes. Increased workshop time for Heroes to focus on this.
- And probably another 100 small tweaks.
